As a distinctive origin, CARNUNTUM forms the basis of all our wines.
Our soils give the vines nutrients, strength and also depth.
Our vineyards form the heart of everything we do.
The grapes they give us are their art.
Our craft supports, helps and accompanies them all year round.
With our passion we make countless small decisions - day after day.
With the pure power of nature and our grapes ...
... supported by our craft ...
... with a lot of time, calmness, attention and patience ...
our wines are created - full of origin, soil, nature, craftsmanship, passion, calm, attention and character.
Our origins, the soils, our vineyards & grapes and of course we humans with our passion and our craft shape our wines!
Our personal goal is to let the grapes ripen with particular attention to their origin, the soils and the climate and to reflect this in the wines through the most gentle vinification possible.
Our job as a winemaker?
Strengthen the vines and create perfect conditions for our grapes year after year.
Accompany and listen to the wines. Support them without wanting to change them.
With this philosophy, we cultivate and care for our 28 hectares of vineyards all year round - the top priority is the organic management of our vineyards - out of respect for nature and also for the people who work with us.
For us, wine is family and has been for 6 generations.
Lena, Christina & Theresa, Franz, Anna-Maria & Christine, Peter (v.l.n.r.)
As winegrowers, we can accompany our vines, grapes and wines - support and strengthen them as best we can without wanting to change them.
Franz & Christina
For me, wine is creativity, passion and passion that I feel, that I live and interpret differently with each vintage.
Christina
Wine is tradition combined with constant innovation and above all community.
Franz
Wine is enjoyment & culture - for me it is a way of life and belongs to good food and, of course, to our family.
Christine
Accompany and support our vineyards all year round - from the ground to the top of the shoot - that is my craft.
Peter
They form our basis and give us their grapes: our vineyards in the chain of hills surrounding the village of Göttlesbrunn, in the heart of the Carnuntum wine-growing region, located in the far east of Austria.
Roman town,
Origin,
geological, climatic and also geographical border area.
Pannonian climate with continental influences, Lake Neusiedl & Danube, loess & gravel, Alps & Carpathians - our wines are unique and thrive in our 900-hectare wine-growing region. Eighter regional wines, village wines or singe vineyard wines - each of them reflects their distinctive origin - this is the NEW CARNUNTUM.
Gentle gravely hills & nutrient-rich loess layers, calcareous subsoil, Pannonian late summer, cool winds at night - wines from Göttlesbrunn are balanced & harmonious with juicy and fresh fruit & spice.
Gravel and loess shape the soil. Surrounded by the forest, this brings a fresh & cool style - the ideal place to grow Weißburgunder grapes.
Our highest gravel hill with the large Ellender forest on top is getting all the heat of the sun during the day and cooling down at night.
Loess brings constancy, ripeness and fruit, cool air sinks from the forest into the foothills at night - without doubt our best Zweigelt location.
The sandy loess is calcareous and barren, the near Pannonian lowland brings warm impacts.
Our most important red wine cuvées are thriven here.
Pure red gravel & lots of forest bring coolness, freshness and crisp fruit -
the ideal site for our Grüner Veltliner grapes.
On the rolling hills of the Arbesthal ridge, our vines grow and mature in the distinctive locations of Carnuntum. The nearby Danube and the warm Pannonian lowlands around Lake Neusiedl, characterize our region. The warm air flows from the east lead to high ripeness of the grapes and the cool winds from the north (especially during the night) preserve the freshness, fruit and spice - a unique combination for our characteristic wines. Therefore it is our goal - as a member of the Austrian traditional wineries - to work with the characteristics of the individual vineyards and to highlight them in our wines. Only the names of the best sites for the typical Carnuntum varieties may adorn our label.
